Standing up on your first morning. It happens more often than you think.

Lessons happen on the sand-bottom break, which forgives a bad fall — one of the kindest places in Java to learn. Two hours in the water with a local instructor, three students maximum, board and rash guard included. We go out when the tide is right, not when the clock says so.
